An analysis of over a billion searches via Google indicates that Take That's musical comeback in 2005 is the biggest the UK has ever experienced, while Lopez takes the global crown, reports Music Week.

Since landing a role on American Idol earlier this year and having huge international success with 'On The Floor', Lopez narrowly beat Mariah Carey into second place to be named the 'World Greatest Musical Comeback Act' globally.

The star's new-found popularity pushed Take That down to three on the global list, who have since sold millions of albums worldwide.

AccuraCast's Managing Director Farhad Divecha, said: "The UK results feature more bands than the US. They also show the importance of sustaining a comeback.

"The Spice Girls reunion was just that and Rage Against the Machine saw incredible interest around a Christmas record before immediately falling back to previous low levels."

He added: "Gary Barlow is interesting. His comeback is via Take That but also due in part to his X Factor appearances. His score is increasing but unlikely to ever get close to the Take That total."
