Jennifer Lopez 'chose Casper Smart over Marc Anthony reconciliation'

Jennifer Lopez reportedly chose not to reconcile with former husband Marc Anthony despite his desire for a reunion.

The couple announced their separation in June 2011 after seven years of marriage, with Lopez having moved onto a relationship with 22-year-old dancer Casper Smart.

While Anthony filed for divorce on Monday (April 9), it has since been claimed that Anthony hoped to reunite with American Idol judge Lopez and mend their relationship.

According to TMZ, the pair met several weeks ago to decide whether or not to procee! d with t heir separation.

While Anthony was willing to get back together, Lopez is said to have turned him down in favour of pursuing her relationship with Smart.

Anthony was apparently "blindsided" by Lopez's admission that she is "deeply in love" with Smart and "wants to pursue that relationship", as he was not aware that the couple had gotten serious.

Lopez recently denied rumours that she and Smart secretly got married while in Mexico.
