Jennifer Lopez Developing Drama Series for ABC Family

Having already conquered reality TV as a judge on "American Idol" and executive producer of series such as Univision's "Q'Viva!: The Chosen" and MTV's "Dancelife," Jennifer Lopez is now moving behind the scenes of scripted programming. Deadline reported that ABC Family is fast-tracking a new hour-long drama series that will be developed and executive produced by Lopez, with her Nuyorican Productions partner Simon Fields.

The untitled series is about a lesbian couple, one of whom is a police officer and the other a private school teacher. They already have one biological son and adopted teen twins (one of which is a boy and the other a girl), but their household is turned upside down when they take in a wayward teenage girl. According to Deadline, Lopez is also reportedly planning to guest star in the show.

Production dates and locations for the new show have not been announced, and the casting director has not been confirmed.

If ABC Family picks up the project to series, it will be Lopez's second scripted show on the air. She is currently producing "Amigas, Inc.," a new series about four entrepreneurial Miami teens who start a party-planning business to throw their perfect quinceaneras. The eight-episode series is scheduled to premiere this fall on Musica y Mas, the Latino-themed cable channel formerly known as MTV Tres.
