Jennifer Lopez gives words of advice to new 'American Idol' judge Mariah Carey

Jennifer Lopez has stepped down from her position as American Idol judge and has since relinquished the title to Mariah Carey.

When asked whether or not she thinks Carey will fare well in the judging chair, Lopez, who left to pursue other projects, told E! News, "I think so, yeah! Why not? Shes a musician for a long time she has a lot of experience.

And its that experience you offer them at the end of the day, the contestants just want to get better and grow through the process.

Giving some advice to the Grammy-winner, Lopez tells Carey "Just enjoy the journey. There is pressure as far as the live shows, but you know what? Just remember youre there at the end of the day to help those contestants grow and to get to the end and to get to that finale, Entertainmentwise reports.

Lopez added, "And whenever I thought about that it always made my job a little less pressure-filled and a littler easier, because its not about you. It wasnt about me, it was about them. It was about helping them and that always made it a lot of fun for me. Im going to miss it a lot.

Ryan Seacrest is also excited about Carey joining the Idol family, tweeting after the official announcement, Welcome to the fam @MariahCarey!! When u and @nickcannon need a date night, I'm happy to strap on the double baby bjorn :)"
