Jennifer Lopez's Hard Sell of the 2012 Fiat 500 Continues

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan Jennifer Lopez's newest role as Fiat's top salesperson took another step forward on Monday as the Chrysler brand released a new advertisement called "My World." The video shows Lopez behind the wheel of the 2012 Fiat 500 driving through her old neighborhood in the Bronx.

"The new ad explores her personal take on how life in the New York City borough continues to inspire her to be tougher, to stay sharper and to think faster," said Chrysler in a statement.

The automaker described this latest effort as Lopez's "first" Fiat 500 commercial, even though it released a trailer essentially an ad for her single "Papi" in September that ran in such places as Monday Night Football. The full-length Papi music video, which features the Fiat 500, had been viewed 14,643,745 times on YouTube as of Tuesday morning. Lopez plugs the Fiat 500 in a rousing dance number, while attired in stiletto heels, a midriff-baring top and tap shorts.

Edmunds.com reported that Fiat considerations have climbed 31 percent since the original Lopez ad broke on September 12. Nearly 6 million women are said to watch NFL games.

The "My World" ad is much more subdued than the Papi trailer, as Lopez drives not dances through the Bronx streets. "They may be just streets to! you, bu t to me, they are a playground," she says in a voice-over.

The ad's tag line is "Life Is Best When Driven."

Chrysler is said to be striving for authenticity with the J-Lo connection.

"The commercial tells the story of how the simple elements of our upbringing can help explain who we are, where we're going and serve as a source of inspiration to achieve our goals in life," said Olivier Francois, Fiat-Chrysler's chief marketing officer, in a statement.

Chrysler reported on October 3 that it sold 2,773 Fiat 500s in September and a total of 13,861 of them calendar year-to-date.
