Zooey Deschanel, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez - Other Stars Who've Separated This Year

Is something in the air this year? This week "New Girl" star Zooey Deschanel announced her and her musically talented husband and front man for the rock band Death Cab for Cutie Ben Gibbard are ending their two year marriage. The publicist for the actress says the split is amicable and that no third party will be involved.

The announcement comes after a host of other celebs have broken their vows this year. Let's take a look at 2011's biggest breakups.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries

The reality vixen is no stranger to headlines but this week she caused quite a bit of controversy after announcing her divorce to NBA player Kris Humphries after only 72 days of marriage. The voluptuous babe has been called out for having the wedding as a publicity stunt, something both her and her reality momager Kris Jenner have denied. What's even worse is Kim's husband had to find out about the divorce like everyone else - through the press!

Kim posted an apology on her website to her fans but many believe the apology is fake. The divorce announcement only happened two days ago and Kim's reality show "Kourtney and Kim Take New York" will premiere on E! this month. Along with her wedding, is the famous Kardashian sister using her divorce to pull in more ratings for her s! how? Pre tty good timing, right?

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony

These two Latin lovers had a case of the seven-year-itch when they divorced this past summer after seven years together. Like Kim K., Jenny From the Block has a long and complicated dating history. She's dated a wide range of men from A-list superstars (Ben Affleck, P. Diddy) to D-list nobodies (Ojani Noa, Cris Judd). After her divorce we speculated J. Lo would hook up with "The Hangover" star Bradley Cooper. As recent as just last week the two are rumored to be a full fledged couple. A friend of Cooper says he's " been after Jennifer, calling her, for ages."

Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson

The divorce between these two Tinsletown sweeties finalized this summer, although the two officially announced their divorce just before the New Year. Ryan and Scar-Jo were married for only two years and the actress was seen in a number of high profile post-divorce flings with A-list celebs including Sean Penn.

Recently discussing her divorce Scar-Jo says she was highly critical of her ex-husband. "I can be overcritical - with myself and with other people. And I don't compromise I pass judgment on people quite quickly. If I don't agree with someone or if I'm annoyed I will tell people to their face - no matter how hurtful that might be. That can get me into trouble from time to time," she said.

We don't know who could criticize a man with abs like Jesus but that's okay, we're sure the next woman he moves onto will appreciate him.

Bradley Cooper and Renee Zellweger

Although the two never said "I do" B. Coop and ! Re-Ze we re hot and heavy for two years until the two parted ways this past March. It was considered one of the most surprising splits in Hollywood but rumor has it the lovely duo broke up due to Brad's rising career.

A friend of the couple said, "He worked really hard to get into leading man status. Renee had to take a backseat. She traveled with him to make it work."
