Rumors that Lopez, who was recently named the most powerful celebrity by Forbes, was leaving Idol started on Wednesday when sources told E! On Friday, Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe stressed to E! News just how important Lopez is to the show and how hard it would be to get a new judge. "It would mean starting all over again with a new judge and getting them up to speed. It's not easy. It's not easy criticizing people and doing it in a manner that isn't just chopping their knees from underneath them, but hopefully coaching them."

Lythgoe also said that he didnt be! lieve re ports that she was leaving. "I don't believe that's true," he said when asked about the reports.

Lopez will be touring North America this summer with Enrique Iglesias and she reportedly hopes to take the tour overseas, which would conflict with Idol auditions.
