Jennifer Lopez has revealed that she initially struggled to bond with her children when they were born.

The What To Expect When You're Expecting star said that she realised she wasn't naturally connecting to twins Max and Emmie less than two weeks after becoming a mother.

Lopez told Redbook magazine: "I remember after the babies were born, about seven to 10 days in, I was like, 'What is going on with me?

"I felt sad and depressed and thought the babies didn't love me."

Lopez, who is now dating dancer Casper Smart, explained that the book on which her latest film is based on helped her to get through the rough patch.

The 'On The Floor' singer added: "I actually remember picking up the book to try to see what was happening to me, and it said how you have this huge hormonal drop about seven to 10 days after you give birth. It's called the 'baby blues.' But I just thought [the twins] didn't like me!"

American Idol judge Lopez welcomed her 4-year-old twins with singer Marc Anthony. The former couple announced their intention to divorce last July.
